I grew up in Sandy, Utah and my family moved to Draper about 14 years ago. I attended Jordan High School in Sandy. After I graduated, I spent my freshman year at Southern Utah University. I transferred my sophomore year to the University of Utah and received my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education.
I student taught in Fourth Grade at Brookwood Elementary in Sandy. I began my teaching experience at Pony Express Elementary as a First Grade Teacher. The next year, I transferred to Eagle Valley Elementary and taught Reading Recovery and Computers. The following year I transferred back to Pony Express where I taught Reading Recovery and First Grade for 5 years. In 2009, I transferred to Fifth Grade at Pony Express Elementary. In 2011, I transferred to Thunder Ridge Elementary to teach 5th grade.
Continuing Education
I obtained my Reading Endorsement through the BYU Cites program. I’m also a certified Reading Recovery teacher. I have a years worth of training in the Emints program so that I can better incorporate technology into my curriculum.
My Family
I come from a family of 5. My dad has been working in the car business for over 30 years. My mom works as an office manager for a medical consulting company. I am the oldest of three girls. My middle sister Chelsea is married and has a little girl and a baby boy. Playing with Brookie and Baby Sam is one of the ways that I love to spend my free time. They currently live in Long Beach, California. My little sister Christie is currently teaching English & Debate at Provo High. She is married to Collin, who is currently attending BYU.
My Favorite Things
I love to play in the summer. My favorite summer days are spent out on my family’s boat. I love to waterski, wakeboard, and wakesurf. One of my favorite places on earth is Lake Powell.
I am a frequent Jazz game attendee. If I’m not at the game, I can be found watching it on TV at home. I tend to think the players can hear me through the TV.
As I said above, playing with my niece Brookie and nephew Sam is one of my favorite pastimes. I enjoy going to California to spend time with them and my sister.
I love Cafe Rio and tend to eat there about once a week. I also LOVE Dr. Pepper.
I love to read and wish that I was able to find more time to do it. Getting lost in a good book is one of my favorite ways to spend free time.
Traveling is one of my passions. I have been able to travel to Europe twice and I also visited Argentina. I love to take road trips as often as possible and have been known to take them to see my favorite band Switchfoot in concert.
